Photo Friday - Meet Patrick - Care Assistant at Ardath care home Bexhill

Each week we will feature a member of our team or one of our residents as our 'Photo Friday' so you can find out a little bit more about them.

A big thank you to Patrick O’Neill for featuring as our Photo Friday this week! Patrick is a Care Assistant at Ardath Care Home in Bexhill, he says,

“I have been at Ardath for around 8 months now and am really enjoying it. My job involves taking care of residents’ physical needs - helping with day-to-day tasks such as dressing and washing, making sure they are getting the right nutrition and are safe.

“I also look after residents’ emotional needs – we discuss things they enjoy doing, and lots of other topics. This gives residents a spiritual lift - I really enjoy seeing their smiles and reactions.

“One of things I love doing most is the activities with residents. I host a ‘Have I got news for you’ session where we chat about the latest news. I always make sure to include some good news in there too.

It’s not always about group activities, I also speak to residents on a one to one basis. One of our residents, Jack, used to be an RAF engineer, so we spoke about planes and I am planning to bring in some items relating to planes that we can look at and discuss next time.

“It is all about making a difference to residents, and bringing in your own personality."

Outside of work I have some really good friends I enjoy spending time with, as well as my two lovely daughters. I’m also expecting my first grandchild so I’m sure that will keep me busy!”
