Fun fashion show at Haywards Heath care home for open day

On Friday 16 June residents and staff at Oakwood Court care home in Haywards Heath celebrated National Care Home Open Day with a fun filled fashion show put on by staff for residents and visitors to enjoy.

The show was themed ‘fashion through the ages’ which saw staff from the not for profit organisation, wearing everything from a 1910 Victorian bathing suit and 1920’s flapper dress to the 1960’s mini skirt and 1980’s goth outfit. The fashion show was followed by Spanish dancers who gave a performance in full Spanish dress.

Elizabeth Kay, resident, said: “The fashion show was spot on it brought back a lot of memories. The 1950’s era was one of my favourites as that’s the decade I got married and saw the Queen’s coronation. My daughter visited and it was a wonderful afternoon, such an upbeat atmosphere and everyone got involved.”

Donna Carlos, Care Home Manager said: “National care home open day is an opportunity to get everyone together and celebrate what life is like here at Oakwood Court and how much fun we have. It’s important to us that our home is very much part of the Haywards Heath community and we enjoy welcoming visitors. I’m thankful to our hard working staff for helping make this open day such a success and friends and relatives who came along to support us.”

National Care Home Open day enables homes to connect with local communities and develop lasting relationships. The theme this year was ‘friendship’.

We have a photo album to share which captures moments from each of our four care homes.
