Celebrating World Alzheimer's Day

Today, Thursday 21 September 2017, is World Alzheimer's Day and we are celebrating with some interesting reminiscence activities.

Ardath care home in Bexhill is having a reminiscence session with 'decade boxes' from the 60's and 70's.

Oakwood Court care home in Haywards Heath and Woodlands care home in Crowborough are having 'food through the ages', everything from spam fritters and bread and dripping to fresh pasta and pizza. We will be capturing what these foods mean to our residents and their memories of when they first ate them.

World Alzheimer’s Day is an opportunity for organisations and individuals around the world to raise awareness, highlight issues faced by people affected by dementia and demonstrate how we can overcome them to help people live well with dementia.

There are nearly 50 million people living with dementia worldwide, and an estimated 850,000 people living with dementia in the UK. To tackle this global dementia challenge we need to work together, and to collaborate and share best practice with one another.
