New social sensory room at Woodlands

Woodlands care home in Crowborough have celebrated the opening of a new social sensory room and residents enjoyed exploring what it has to offer.

The room has a large screen television, a library, lava lamp, fairy lights – just to name a few! Residents got together to enjoy their morning coffee in the new surrounds.

Paddy said: “It’s wonderful to have a choice of so many books, I spend hours doing crosswords and I am just getting back into reading so I’ll have to good look, a library is a great idea.”

Peggy, who is partially blind, said: “The room has been transformed and I’m going to come in here to listen to audio books. A room like this gives me a feeling of being at home, especially with the big sofas. It will also be nice and cosy in the winter.”

Denys said: “I’ll look forward to watching match of the day on the big screen!”

Our mission is to help older people live their later lives to the full and the new social sensory room brings a new dimension to our home and supports residents with their hobbies and interests.
