Edith celebrates 100th birthday

Edith Dobson, resident at Ardath Care Home in Bexhill, recently celebrated her 100th birthday with family and friends and shared her secret on reaching this milestone.

Edith said: "My secret is that I love having a crisp sandwich for breakfast, but I also think that having your meals on time and eating fruit and veg helps to keep you going. I was born in Tonbridge and at the age of 14 I became an apprentice dressmaker so have always made my own clothes, including my wedding dress and those of my two daughters Anne and Kay."

Edith continued: "My husband Bill and I lived in Battle for many years with our family where we had a general store and barber shop. We retired to St. Leonards where I ran the Welcome Club for older people at Hollington Community Centre for several years with my daughter until I was in my nineties. I have lived at Ardath Care Home for four and a half years now and it's a marvellous place - I can't fault it."

Residents and staff at the Sussex Housing & Care owned home joined in Edith's celebrations, enjoying musical entertainment and eating birthday cupcakes.
