Maisie recently moved permanently to Oakwood Court care home in Haywards Heath from her own home, having enjoyed a short stay at Oakwood Court a few years ago. She felt lonely and isolated at home alone and yearned for more social interaction.
Since moving to Oakwood Court Maisie has told us how happy she is to be around more people, to share experiences with others and try out new activities.
With our sunny moments club, Maisie has found a new love for crafts, music, sports and games. She’s always keen and willing to take part and we are able to lift her spirits, shown by her big smile.
Our Activity Co-ordinators, Sandra and Khirsty, support Maisie to get involved and appreciate that she is partially sighted, so they tailor activities to make sure she's involved. For example; they read instructions or text aloud, they print activities in a larger font and sit close to Maisie in case she needs support during an activity.
By really getting to know our residents we are able to arrange activities to not only suit individual interests, but also make sure they are suitable so everyone can enjoy a brighter life in our care.
