In October 2021 we welcomed Isaac Theophilos from Outstanding Care Homes to review our service at Oakwood Court care home in Haywards Heath. We’re delighted to announce that Isaac has independently evaluated Oakwood Court as having a ‘good’ service and praised a number of areas of our service.
The Outstanding Care Home’s review was a mock inspection which follows a similar structure to the formal Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection. The review looked at five key areas including:
In all five areas Isaac believes Oakwood Court is performing at a ‘good’ level.
Isaac Theophilos said: “I spent two days at Oakwood Court, working closely with the care and management team to review the quality of the service in relation to the Care Quality Commission standards. I have concluded that the home is performing at a ‘good’ level across all five key areas. I sought feedback from staff, relatives and residents and was particularly struck by the homely and friendly feel of Oakwood Court and the improvements they’ve made in this not for profit home since their last inspection in 2019. I would happily place my mother/father at Oakwood with confidence.”
Tracy Evans, Chief Executive of Sussex Housing & Care welcomes Isaac’s response and said: “We took the opportunity to work with Isaac, who has a wealth of experience in reviewing care homes, so we can receive an independent review of our performance at Oakwood Court. Isaac has imparted practical and inspirational advice which we have implemented to continue to improve our service and I am really pleased that he considers Oakwood Court to be ‘good’.
“The last CQC inspection at Oakwood Court was over two years ago. We are currently waiting to be re-inspected however the pandemic has limited CQC visits. We are looking forward to welcoming the CQC inspectors soon to show them our improvements and bring Oakwood Court to the same rating as our two other homes in Crowborough and Battle.”
