Sussex Housing & Care supports Ageing Well Festival

Sussex Housing & Care has helped to brighten the lives of the local communty by hosting three online events as part of the East Sussex Ageing Well Fesitval.

The events included a fun, informal quiz, a technology tutorial about social media, and a coffee morning including top tips about using video conferencing.

The events were were hosted by Lizzie Gurr, Engagement and Communications Officer, and were well attended with people joining from across the county. Lizzie said: "Usually we would hold events in our sheltered housing communal lounges or in our care homes, however, we've had to adapt our celebrations this year and embrace virtual platforms to connect with each other. I'm pleased it worked well and we've been able to give people the confidence to safely use social media, and get a better understanding of how they can connect with others without having to physically be with them. This will help to improve their wellbeing and brighten their daily lives."

We received some great feedback:

Just a few words to say "Thank You" for a superb tutorial today. The information was simple and straightforward and allowed us to follow your instructions in an easy manner. It was lovely to see your bright and smiley face, and together with your friendly manner this was a very enjoyable experience. Again "Thank You" for including me on this 'adventure' and I look forward to many more zooms in the near future.

Many thanks for the details on Social Media - It now makes me feel I have joined the rest of society!

It was so good to meet you yesterday and thank you for your most helpful presentation - it will be most useful and has just come  at the right time as face to face events aren't possible now.

The Ageing Well Festival is here to celebrate all the wonderful things people over the age of 50 contribute to our communities. To inspire generations to live long and full lives, and to show you’re never too old to work on your health and wellbeing, and above all have fun.
