New state of the art nurse call messaging system supports residents at Saxonwood care home

Residents at Saxonwood care home in Battle are benefitting from the implementation of a new cutting-edge technology which is improving their wellbeing and quality of life.

The innovative nurse call messaging system, from Blaucomm delivered by Spark Care, enables residents to alert staff without the need for a noisy alarm. The call is instantly received, directly to the staff member’s smartphone, creating a more peaceful atmosphere throughout the home for residents, staff and visitors.

June, 98 who lives at Saxonwood said: “I do like my sleep, I do not wake up so often at night now, and I have a more peaceful sleep in the mornings as I cannot hear those call bells ringing anymore.”

Chrissie, daughter of a resident, enjoys a more peaceful visit: “I observed that the lack of call bells made for a much calmer environment for residents and visitors, I think it is a great approach.”

In addition to a reduction in noise, the new nurse call messaging system has benefitted care staff because they can easily prioritise their response to residents and can communicate promptly.

Amanda Hodge, Operations Director at Sussex Housing & Care said: “We’re delighted the new call system has had a positive impact on daily life at Saxonwood. The implementation is part of our wider digital transformation programme to use technology to provide a more person-centric and responsive service, to improve record keeping and give staff extra time to spend with residents.”

Nadia Morris, Founder and CEO at Spark Care said: “Care should feel like home, not a hospital. At Spark Care, we’re all about bringing in technology that makes life better for residents and easier for staff, without losing that human touch. The nurse call messaging system at Saxonwood has made such a difference already, creating a calmer, more restful environment where residents like June can enjoy a proper night’s sleep, and families can visit without the constant sound of call bells. Huge thanks to the fantastic team at Saxonwood for embracing this technology and making it a success, it’s these small but powerful changes that truly improve quality of life in care homes, and we’re proud to be part of that journey."
