Cheneys Lodge residents learn new skills at technology tutorial

We were delighted that Lizzie and Emily from our Support Services Office, along with Bryony, Scheme Manager, supported 11 residents at Cheneys Lodge on 30 September with their questions about digital technology.

Sylvia was keen to add the Dominos pizza app to her phone: “With Lizzie’s help I’ve downloaded the app and can get the latest deals and pizza delivered quick and easily to my home. I have confidence to download new apps and how to check they’re the right app for me.”

Maureen, 92, learnt how to save photos from her emails to her tablet. “I have a tablet on loan from Sussex Housing & Care through their ‘Get Online’ programme and I love using it to video call my family in Australia. It’s been a useful morning, thank you.”

Another resident learnt how to book an online doctors appointment, one resident checked their privacy settings on Facebook and another discussed how to create a mail merge of address labels ready to write her Christmas cards.

Bryony, Scheme Manager at Cheney Lodge thanked Lizzie and Emily for their support and said: “What a great turn out! The session went really well and I’ve had brilliant feedback. The residents were grateful for your help and guidance in learning new things on their ipads and mobile phones that they were unsure of or having problems doing themselves. They have gone away feeling more confident and empowered, and eager to practice their new skills which is a great result, and we can’t ask for more than that!”
