Arty fun at Woodlands for Dementia Action Week
There was singing, colouring, cutting and story sharing at Woodlands care home in Crowborough this morning during an intergenerational activity to mark Dementia Action Week.
Residents were joined by toddlers and their parents during an Arty Time session and we welcomed visitors from the local community to take part in the activities.

I've seen the TV programme about the children coming into a care home and I thought it was a lovely thing to do. There's been lots going on this morning and we've had good fun. (Angie)
I know so little about dementia and have learnt alot today. It's been fantastic seeing the smiles on people's faces, young and old. (Doug)
Coming here gets my son used to being around the older generation and we've got to know the residents. It's nice they can watch the little ones grow and there's a variety of activities each week for them to enjoy. (Leila)
Dementia Action Week is a national week led by the Alzheimers Society to encourage everyone to take action by starting a conversation with someone living with dementia; whether it’s calling a relative with dementia or visiting a neighbour, it’s time to start talking. Arty Time occurs weekly at Woodlands care home, every Monday, 10.30am until midday. This is a free event and we welcome people from the local community to come and join in.
