It’s been an exciting day as family members have visited inside the same room as their loved one for the first time since our doors had to close.
Gwen met her husband David at Ardath Care Home in Bexhill and was very happy to see him this morning.
“It was incredibly emotional, it was so exciting to be close to David again and speak to him naturally in the same room. I got some big smiles from him and he was happy. We held both hands so tightly and I was wearing full PPE. I updated him about our grandchildren, the neighbours and how the garden looks. I gave him some crisps and daffodils which he loves. I felt exhausted after this morning but I’m feeling good thinking about seeing him again.”
Sensing the excitement and seeing the happy faces when family visit their loved ones is priceless.
Carol visited her Mum Evelyn at Oakwood Court Care Home in Haywards Heath
It was so lovely to visit and be with Mum, and Mum was so thrilled. It was well worth all the faff beforehand having to get all the PPE on! Whilst I was with Mum we connected to the family on the iPad so she also saw her grandchildren.
Margaret met her daughter Anita in the sunroom at Woodlands Care Home in Crowborough, she was happy to see her daughter and hold her hand.
Meanwhile, our visitor pods continue to be used by family and friends. Ellen celebrated her 98th birthday at Woodlands Care Home in Crowborough and enjoyed opening her cards and presents in her daughter’s company. Happy birthday Ellen!
