Government help with energy bills

With the recent increase in the cost of energy bills, we want to share the latest information with our residents to help find out about the support available from the Government.

Here are the energy support schemes available:

  • A £150 non-repayable Council Tax Rebate payment for all households that are liable for Council Tax in Bands A-D. Everyone should have received this by now. If you haven’t received it please let your scheme manager know.
  • £400 non-repayable discount (energy support scheme) to eligible households to help with energy bills from October 2022. For residents that receive their heating and hot water via a heat network (and pay for this in their service charge) we don’t know how this is going to be administered – an announcement is due in September.
  • Cost of Living Payment of £650 if you are on a qualifying low income benefit or tax credits or pension credit. If you qualify you should have received the first payment in July/August.
  • Disability Cost of Living Payment of £150 in September, if you get a qualifying disability benefit
  • if you are entitled to a Winter Fuel Payment you will also get a Pensioner Cost of Living Payment (£250 or £300) with your Winter Fuel Payment for Winter 2023.
