Liz had a brilliant 100th birthday at Woodlands care home in Crowborough, where she received a card from the King and spent the day celebrating with a family tea party and a special visit from the Mayor of Crowborough, David Neeves.
When asked her secret to living to 100, Liz replied: “I think it’s clean living that has got me to 100, although I do enjoy the occasional gin and tonic with a slice of lemon! My husband was very good at making these!”
Liz continued: “I loved my birthday, the card from the King was very special. My family joined me and I have 7 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. I’ve enjoyed bringing up my family and caring for people. Before I retired, I worked at Croydon Social Services looking after the elderly and also volunteered with the Croydon Voluntary Bureau to help a blind lady, I did everything for her and liked to help her, she became a good friend.”
Happy 100th birthday Liz!
