This is a fantastic story about Saxonwood’s staff going the extra mile to support our residents during a lockdown.
When a care home's hairdresser was unable to visit, it was left for Saxonwood staff to ensure that residents’ well-being is promoted and important routines are kept as usual to keep our residents motivated and happy. Most of our residents are regulars with the hairdresser, so they’re all missing her a lot at the moment.
Activities coordinator Jade Allcorn took over the care home’s salon and invited residents in for “get your hair done with rollers”. Staff donated equipment for Jade to be able to carry out her new role as a hairdresser.
Jade’s salon has been a huge hit with everyone, and she has had plenty of visitors during her first day. Since then Jade’s salon is open every Monday with great attendance and success. It keeps routine for the residents which is really important during these difficult and unprecedented times. Jade’s salon which always is full with chat and laughter keep our residents’ spirits up and encourage positivity.
It’s been really nice to be able to keep the residents hair looking nice and help them to feel more like themselves at this time.
There are lot of positive feedback and compliments from residents and relatives about supporting our residents with getting their hair done every week.
A big thank you to Jade for doing fantastic job and all staff helping to make it happen.
