Nutrition & Hydration Week at Sussex Housing & Care

Sussex Housing & Care had a fun-filled Nutrition and Hydration Awareness Week last week (14 – 20 June), focusing on a variety of activities to hydrate ourselves, learn, and to keep hydration at the forefront of our minds, especially in the warm weather.

Our care home residents enjoyed refreshing ice lollies after a cracking game of bingo.

Staff topped up on their hydration knowledge, shared stories, views and experiences about the importance of hydration.

Residents took part in a workshop and quiz, discussing the positives of hydration and the impact this may have on their day.

We created some funky coloured fruit drinks to brighten our residents’ day, followed by an array of different flavoured ice creams. Our team adorned themselves with a tropical theme!

We discussed the importance of exercise and hydration and after a ‘music with movement’ class, residents tasted fruit infused water and our fruity delights drinks, one being very blue!

We had fun with water pistols, with two teams, the blues and reds. Blues using tie dye shirts that residents made earlier in the week! Our residents had a lot of fun squirting the staff! After the fun, everyone enjoyed a fruit kebab.

The week concluded with fruit cocktails and tasty snacks, watching the film ‘Frozen’ and singing to the theme tune “Let it goooooo!”
