On Monday 14 October we held a seven round quiz at Cheneys Lodge in support of the Full of Life celebrations happening throughout October to mark Older People's Day.
The lounge at Cheneys Lodge was full, we welcomed 14 residents and 9 visitors, including two students from Bowden House school in Seaford. Everyone devoured tea, coffee, hot chocolate and cakes - the energy they needed to work those mental muscles!
Contestants created their own team names, which made us all laugh: ‘Snooze you loose’, ‘The clever clogs’, ‘The young old timers’ and ‘The frolicing squirrels’.
Rounds included; general knowledge, winter, sports, spellings, slogans, animals and geography - the spelling round was by far the most challenging!
Hilary spotted the quiz promoted in the East Sussex Full of Life Programme and brought along three friends to join her team: “We've had a lovely afternoon and having the boys from Bowden House join us was fun. The quiz was a nice mixture - a good balance of questions and we'd love to come back in the future!”
Bob, who lives at Cheneys Lodge said: “I've learnt that a group of Owls is called a Parliament! I've enjoyed having an afternoon of company and some laughs.”
The competition heated up as the afternoon progressed and in the end, the winning prize of a box of chocolates was awarded to ‘The young old timers’ - congratulations!
