This week we've welcomed job seekers to our care homes to find out about the opportunities we have and to meet our friendly care home team.
We welcomed students studying Health and Social Care at East Sussex College to Woodlands care home in Crowborough. The were involved in a number of workshops including catering, caring and activities with residents. The had the opportunity to ask questions and hear from the team about their personal experiences.
Sabrina, aged 16, said: "I didn't know I could do flexible hours and I enjoyed learning about all the things you do on a day shift and a night shift and the variety of work. I'd love to have work experience at Woodlands, it's a really nice place, bright, homely and person-centered."
Jake, the college Lecturer joined the visit to Woodlands and shared his reflections on the morning: "For many students this was their first visit to a care home and Woodlands have set the bar high. They've gained real life examples of care values, and it will motivate the students to be good carers. There's a feeling about Woodlands and a culture that's happy, positive and bright."
Open days at Saxonwood care home in Battle and Oakwood Court care home in Haywards Heath were a hive of activity as residents, staff and visitors had fun with autumnal crafts including weaving cobwebs, creating leaf hedgehogs and making autumn wreaths. It was a great opportunity to experience a care home and the fun we have with residents and colleagues!
