Our residents in Crowborough, Lewes, Seaford and Bexhill have recently competed in a quiz with a difference as they connected online via skype to battle it out for the top score.
Ann Field, resident at The Rowans in Crowborough, said: “Anything that gets people together is fun. I have skype but don’t use it that often, I might try again after having had a demonstration today. It was fun seeing people in Seaford and giving them a wave. I can’t be without my laptop, I love it. I do shopping and use the web to find information.”
Polly Senter, resident at Clevedown in Lewes, said: “Skyping with a group is a laugh, it’s nice to connect with other residents and in future we’d like to do more of this. Skype is great, being able to see and hear people and connecting with others who may not be able to get out much. I sometimes use skype to connect with my son in Japan, it’s a useful and free way to catch up.”
The skype quiz was arranged as part of our celebrations of Older People’s Day during October, and to encourage and support older people to use online technology and live later life to the full.
