Residents at Cheneys Lodge in Seaford welcomed Seaford’s Young Mayor, Dominic Avey to their home to celebrate Older People’s Day and enjoy an afternoon tea party and raffle, raising money for Seaford Head School’s drama department.
Residents enjoyed chatting to Dominic about his goals and role as Seaford’s Young Mayor. Dom said: “I would like to thank Sussex Housing and Care for inviting me, the Seaford’s Young Mayor and my deputy to be the guests at the afternoon tea. I feel it is so important for the younger generation to interact with those of more senior years and it’s great to see so many people enjoying themselves. I had the most enjoyable afternoon.”
Teresa Whittingdon, Scheme Manager at Cheneys Lodge said: “It was really heart-warming to see the young students from Seaford Head school serving tea and interacting with the residents of Cheneys Lodge and a privilege to have the young mayor attending. The residents loved the afternoon and are still talking about how wonderful it was.”
Our mission is to help people live later life to the full and we support a number of intergenerational projects, bringing young and older people together to share experiences and enrich their lives.
