Huge congratulations to Wendy, Sandra and Helen who all scooped awards last night at the East Sussex Partners in Care Awards for their incredible achievements!
The red carpet was laid out at the East Sussex National Hotel near Uckfield, as carers from across the county and special guest Olympic Champion Sally Gunnell OBE met to celebrate all the finalists.
Sandra Everley, our Administrator at Saxonwood Care Home in Battle won the ‘Hidden Gem’ category. The panel recognised that she is known for her positivity and as the Wellbeing Champion, she uplifts residents and staff. Sandra arranges themed activities and makes everyone feel welcome and gives personalised support, like one to one art sessions with residents.
Sandra said: “I am so thankful to have been nominated for this award and so delighted to have won. I love seeing my colleagues and residents every day and feel lucky to be part of Sussex Housing & Care, especially the Saxonwood team, thank you so much.”
Wendy Jensen, Activities Coordinator at Saxonwood won the Ancillary Support category. The judges commented that Wendy is an inspiration and has a huge impact on brightening residents’ lives. Wendy isn’t afraid to trial new activities, offering choice, listening and asks for suggestions. Wendy delivers excellent person centered care and volunteers at Saxonwood bringing in her dog Beau.
Wendy was thrilled to receive the award: “I am absolutely delighted and very proud. I am grateful for all the wonderful support I receive. I love my job, making a difference to residents at Saxonwood, thank you.”
Helen Kelly, Activities Coordinator at Woodlands Care Home in Crowborough was presented with a Highly Commended Award in the Newcomer to Care category. The judges recognised that Helen joined Woodlands to follow a new career path, bringing a strong desire to help people, and has a range of transferable skills. . Helen has flourished in her new role, encouraging residents interests, hobbies and wellbeing.
Collecting her award, Helen said: “I am so proud and thankful for being nominated, what an honour and a great night out with the team!”
We are very proud that Sandra, Helen and Wendy have been recognised for their work, they are all a credit to Sussex Housing and Care.
